Miracle Park
Grand Opening

Project Type: Multimedia Journalism
Date: September 2021
Client: Winthrop University
As a Mass Communication major at Winthrop University, I closely followed the development of Miracle Park—a first-of-its-kind, fully inclusive recreational space in Rock Hill, SC. This project culminated in a multimedia coverage package documenting the park’s grand opening. My work was produced for two of Winthrop’s student-run news outlets: The Johnsonian (print) and Winthrop Close Up (broadcast).
Background
Miracle Park is the first park in the world to earn a universal design certification, a distinction typically only awarded to residential structures. Purposefully designed to be accessible to people of all ages and abilities, the park marked a historic moment for inclusive public spaces in the U.S.
